Bandits kill NSCDC Officer, kidnap relatives in Ekiti
An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Ekiti State Command has been killed by gunmen along Oke Ako – Ajowa road in Ikole local government of the State.The Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Tolu Afolabi confirmed the incident today, adding that investigation is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of the evil act.In his words, “One of our officers was shot dead yesterday on his way from Ado Ekiti to his home town while others were kidnapped by gunmen.”It was gathered that the officer, who was travelling from Ado Ekiti to his home town, was attacked in his vehicle and shot dead while the gunmen kidnapped his younger brother and two children with him in the car.According to a source, hunters in the neighbouring communities had started combing the bush for possibility of apprehending the gunmen.On her part, the Regent of Oke Ako, Princess Tinuade Ogunbiyi said she got the information that somebody was shot dead on the road while others were kidnapped, saying it is the same thing repeating itself on a daily basis.She called on security personnel to do more in securing the people in the area as kidnapping is becoming order of the day .
