Ogun Partners Financial Institutions To Procure Tools For Artisans, Technicians

Ogun State Government has concluded plans to engage financial institutions to procure equipments for trained, certified artisans and technicians in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, disclosed this in an  interview at his office in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Odemuyiwa who expressed worry over artisans and technicians becoming Okada rider due to lack of money to purchase basic tools for their trade, said the government has concluded plans to assist them
He said that that Dapo Abiodun led administration is linking them with financial institutions for various empowerment opportunities in collaboration with other other government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government.
The SA added that apart from finance, there was need for continuous training of artisans and technicians, as well as espousing them to modern tools, in order to make them relevant and meet their end means and increasing industrial demand.
He said that the government intends to fight unemployment by supporting them to practice their trades by leveraging the Ministry of Trade and Investment’s ‘Business Clinics initiative’ to enable them procure equipment needed to enhance their trade.
“Many trained and certified technicians and artisans are engaged in other trades due to lack of capital and basic tools. The government intends to fight unemployment by linking them with financial institutions for various empowerment opportunities in collaboration with other government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government.”

“The Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration has been focused as regards technical and vocational education and training.  We have made great strides in empowering the people, most especially youths with skills, however, we observed that many trained technicians are becoming ‘Okada’ riders because they do not have the necessary equipment to work with.” he added
