Police rescue Ekiti kidnap victim, arrest three suspects
The police in Ekiti State have rescued a kidnapped victim believed to be a student of Federal University, Oye Ekiti, who was abducted in Oye Ekiti on Wednesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, said, “The arrested suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and said that they took the victim and held him hostage for financial purpose.”
The police spokesperson stated, “On March 23, at about 22:30hours, the Command received a distress call that a student of FUOYE was kidnapped from Oye Ekiti by unknown hoodlums to an unknown destination.
“Upon the receipt of the information, the Command’s RRS immediately activated the investigation and tracked the suspects to a hotel in Ado Ekiti where the victim was held hostage in one of the hotel rooms.
“The victim was immediately rescued while three suspects namely Babajide, Nathaniel, both from Ondo State, and Adetayo, who claimed to be a private soldier serving in Yobe State, were arrested inside the hotel room.”
