Although it is the wish of Gov Okowa to hand over power to a capable and competent hand in 2023 , he has not endorsed anyone to take over from him. Delta State Commissioner of Information , Mr Charles Aniagwu , made this clarification on Thursday in Asaba , the state capital , during a press briefing. He was reacting to an unfounded rumour making the rounds that he (Okowa) has already endorsed and thrown his support for Mr Sheriff Oborevworie , the incumbent Speaker of the vibrant Delta State House of Assembly. He said the Okowa-led administration would remain focused till May 28 , 2023 and would not be distracted by detractors. The Commissioner urged against what he described as ” the pull down syndrome ” . While acknowledging the pivotal role the press has so far played in the history of this administration , he explained that the governor’s daughter , like every other Deltans , has the right to contest any elective position she so wishes. He said the government would continue to fulfill her promises to Deltans and keep on delivering projects to the people.
