Wife stabs brother in-law to death over broken mirror

Police in Ogun state have arrested a 30-year-old house wife, Cynthia Olukiowu for allegedly stabbing her husband’s nephew to death in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was said to have stabbed the 18-year-old victim to death over a mirror.
Cynthia had accused Habeeb Aremu of breaking the mirror which the victim denied, resulting to his untimely death.
She was arrested on Saturday 5, 2022 following a distress call received at the Agbado divisional headquarters of the police.
The caller told the police that a boy was stabbed on the neck by his uncle’s wife, following a misunderstanding that ensued between her and the victim over a broken mirror.
Information had it that a mirror used in the house got broken and wife accused her husband’s nephew of broken it.
The allegation led to a disagreement between the deceased and the woman, who in the process took a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim on his neck.
The Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday.
Oyeyemi said that upon the call, the Dpo Agbado division CSP Kehinde Kuranga quickly led his men to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.
He said that the victim who was in the pool of his own blood was rushed to hospital, but unfortunately died and his corpse was deposited at Ifo general hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
