Ogun partners FMARD, commissions infrastructures to better rural dwellers livelihood

Ogun State government in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to has embarked on the construction of series of projects across the rural areas of Ogun State.

Our Correspondent reports that these projects are put in place to provide succor and relief to the people at the grassroots, to support a better livelihood and well-being of rural dwellers.

Some of these infrastructures are Asphaltic Roads, Motorized Boreholes, One-Stop Agricultural Extension Delivery Centre, Modern Yam Barn, Agribusiness Incubation Centre (ABIC), Solar Street Light among others.

Standard Times Nigeria reports that these projects were officially commissioned and handed over to the communities/beneficiaries by FMARD Abuja represented by the regional and state offices. This is to ensure that the beneficiaries are fully in charge of these projects for optimal use and maintenance.

At the commissioning of these projects which cut across all the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, Mrs. Oguntuiyi-Abimbola Omolara represented the Hon. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Muhammed Mahmood Abubakar, while the State Coordinator, Engr. G. O. Oseni, was the Chief Host. The project team was led by the State Engineer, Engr. O. O. Olaosebikan, and supported by the Head of Admin., Mrs. F. A. Adebesin, Deputy Director Rural Infrastructure (Mr. O. A. Adekanmbi), the Heads of Departments, and members of staff from the state and regional offices, and the gentlemen of the press.

At every location of the projects, the delegates from FMARD were well received by the Obas and Councils, Local Government Chairmen, communities’ Chairmen, women leaders, and youths. Representative of His Royal Majesty, Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona led the community to receive FMARD delegates at the One-Stop Agricultural Extension Delivery Centre in Eriwe, Ijebu-Ode. Likewise, HRM Alakenne of Akenne was the Chairman of the event at the constructed 1.8km Asphaltic Road at O/A Ikenne and also 2.0km Modupe Ogundalu road, Ikenne. Also, His Royal Highness Alawowo of Awowo, Oba AbdulGafar chaired the commissioning of 1.8km Asphaltic Road at Awowo, Ogun Central Senatorial District.

At the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta where Incubation Centre was constructed and commissioned, the team was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Development, Prof. Kehinde, the Deans of various faculties and Professors in the university.  The principal of Odeda Farm Institute, Eweje and Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina represented by the Head of Agricultural Services, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Sodiya, welcomed the team to the school premises for the official commissioning of two completed projects (Modern Yam Barn and Water Harvesting Structure).  

The host communities expressed their appreciation for the intervention from Federal Government via Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and promised to maintain the projects.
