Nasarawa Police arrest man 43, for allegedly raping 80-year-old grandma
The Police command in Nasarawa have arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly raping an 80 year-old woman in the state.
A statement signed by ASP Ramhan Nansel, Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command confirmed in Lafia, on Sunday.
The statement said a complaint was lodged at Garaku Division of the Police Command on Jan. 14th, 2022 at about 22:30pm on the incident.
According to the statement, the accused was one 43-year-old Dan’asabe Eddo, an indigene of Kaduna state, but resident in Kundami village, Garaku, Lokonga local government area of Nasarawa state.
“He allegedly went into the residence of an 80-year-old woman, who stays alone in the same village, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives attached to the Garaku Division immediately swung into action and got the suspect arrested.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that he committed the offence, but blamed it on the devil.
“Upon notification, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for profound investigation,” the statement said.
The statement urged members of the public to pay special attention to the elderly, and guard them against gerontophiles
Help my son from Fulani herdmen attack, woman cries out
Worried by constant harassment of his son,by people suspected to be Fulani herders,a woman in Akure,Ondo state,has sought assistance from well meaning Nigerians.
The who gave her name as Bosede Adejoro said her son could no longer sleep with his two eyes closed following threat to his life by Fulani herders.
“They have vowed to either kill or maim my son because he reported them to the community leader of OSI ,in Akure when their cows ,destroyed his farmland”/the woman said, with worries.
She spoke with journalists in Ilesa,when he visited her sister,to update her on the travail of her son who now ,moves from one destination to the other,trying to escape the wrath of the herdera.
The woman who also engages in buying and selling,explained “Trouble started with my son ,on the 10th October last year when he visited his farmland in OSI in Akure,only to discover that crops,such as,cassava,plantain,vegetables which were on the land had been ravaged by cattles ”
Mrs Adejoro noted that her son ,Ayodeji cheated death by the whiskers when the herdsmen attacked him with dangerous weapons in his farm,after their cows,had unleashed havoc on crops, in the farm.
“It was God that saved him in the hands of the cattle rearers ,who have since been threatening to harm him ,whenever and wherever they set their eyes on him” Mrs Adejoro said, with noslagia.
According to her, her son’s residence in Ala close,Akure played host to some strange persons,suspected to be herders,late,last year,adding ,”they vandalised and stole my son’s property.
“More than four times,till date,
e suspected herders, came to me threatening to deal with him, because he allegedly dared them ” the woman ,added.
