Ogun Workers Threaten Strike Action

Workers in Ogun State civil service under the umbrella of Joint National Service Negotiations Council has threatened to embark on industeial action over non Implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the governor and the Labour body a year ago.
The Mou which was signed by the governor and Labour in September 2020 contained the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state.
The Mou was signed by the two parties following a week of industrial unrest in September last year on the modality of Implementing the minimum wage and other demands of the workers.
The treath for a new industrial action is however coming after a year of non implementation of the agreement in the MoU.
The Secretary of the Council, Olusegun Adebiyi stated their grievances in a letter addressed to the Governor on September 23 , which was made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.
Adebiyi stated that many of the issues still subsiting in the MoU included proposed amendment to the State Contributory Pension Law ; 19 months of of deductions, gratuity payment and matters arising;
He said other items include; unpaid seven years arrears of statutory leave allowance and snail speed on staff promotion, among others.
Adebiyi added that ” painfully we have observed that lackluster attitude and lack of genuine commitment towards any police whatsoever to alleviate the fast deplorable conditions of his work force”
